Which vehicles are most commonly featured in films and TV series?
Cars have played a significant role in some of the most famous movies and TV shows of all time and often end up taking centre stage and becoming one of the most memorable aspects for the audience.
After all, imagine Back to the Future without the DeLorean, or Herbie without the VW Beetle! We all have our favourite iconic movie cars, but which are the ones which pop up on our screens the most often?

61,683 appearances
Ford dominates the list of most common movie car brands, with an incredible 61,683 appearances in total. It’s not surprising that an American manufacturer took top spot, with iconic vehicles such as Bullitt’s 1968 Mustang GT, the 1966 Thunderbird from Thelma & Louise, and, of course, Greased Lightning itself, from Grease, which was a 1948 Ford De Luxe Convertible.

Mercedes-Benz have seen their vehicles appear in no less than 34,675 films and TV shows, including the 450SEL 6.9, which is used as a major plot device in David Lynch’s Lost Highway and the “Red Baron” 600 limousine which is used by Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin.

The Chevy is an iconic American brand and they’ve seen their vehicles used in movies such as The Fast and the Furious, American Graffiti and Days of Thunder and even appeared as the Batmobile in Tim Burton’s Batman movies, as well as in the Transformers series, where a Chevrolet Camaro serves as the alter ego of Bumblebee.

You might not be so familiar with the Crown Vic, but you’ll have seen them appear on your screen countless times, usually without even realising it. That’s because they’re amongst the most commonly used vehicles when it comes to both police cars and taxis. However, the most famous Crown Victoria is probably the version driven by the Men in Black.
#2
3,504 appearances
Second place goes to a much more recognisable Ford model, the Mustang. One of its first big-screen outings was in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, but the Mustang is best remembered for the infamous chase through the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt, driven by Steve McQueen, as well as the 1967 Ford Shelby GT500, dubbed "Eleanor", in Gone in 60 Seconds

3,401 appearances
While the S-Class hasn’t had many starring roles, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has still managed to rack up an impressive 3,401 appearances in films and TV shows over the years, including Fast & Furious 6, Sicario and Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
